Deiksis is a journal that aims to be a peer-reviewed platform and an authoritative source of information. We publish scientific works from national and international lecturers, researchers, students, and practitioners to present their new ideas, concepts, and theories in Indonesian language and literature education focused on Language Learning and Indonesian Literature, Class Action Research (CAR) of the teaching of Language and Indonesian Literature, Indonesian Linguistics and Literature, Linguistic and Literary analysis as well as related topics. All articles are peer-reviewed by at least two peer-reviewers. Deiksis is managed to be issued twice in every volume. The scope of Deiksis is Indonesian Language and Literature Learning Model, Assessment and Evaluation of Teaching Indonesian Language and Literature, discourse analysis, pragmatics, anthropolinguistics, language and culture, dialectology, language documentation, cognitive linguistics, language education, translation, language planning, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and other scientific fields related to language studies.

Abstract

This study's problem formulation is based on van Dijk's critical discourse, which includes text, social cognition, and social environment. The descriptive qualitative research method was used in this study. In August 2021, the internet media "detik.com" was used as the data source for this investigation. The news "Procurement of official clothes for the Tangerang City DPRD brand LV" was the focus of this investigation, which included of 5 articles. The following is the conclusion: According to detik.com, the structure of the news text on the procurement of LV brand official clothes portrays the Tangerang City DPRD as the initiator of the procurement of LV brand official clothes in a negative light, while positively portraying the auction winner. The sort of knowledge used in the news, namely personal, institutional, and organizational knowledge, reveals the social cognition included therein. The social situation mentioned in the detik.com news story represents a societal social ideal that prioritizes the public good over personal gain. The purchase of official clothing is a personal interest that can be set aside if there is a more pressing public concern that needs to be addressed first. The cancellation of official clothes procurement with the LV brand, which has a spectacular price, reflects societal standards in Indonesian organizations.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the use of prepositional Phrases especially of the use of Adjectival Prepositional Phrases and also Adverbial Prepositional Phrases. This research was taken from “The Jakarta Post” newspaper” which is a daily published English newspaper in Jakarta. The approach of this research using the descriptive qualitative which drive at the facts that are found sistematically and factually. The writers involve themselves as an instrument of the research because in doing the research, the writers can make other people involve in collecting the data since the technic of the research itself is literary works that will be conducted by the writers themselves.The research revealed that: from the 1st, to the 2nd , to the 3rd, to the 4th edition of the news available in National Column of “The Jakarta Post” newspaper that the amount of the existence of the Adverbial Prepositional Phrases are higher than the amount of the existence of the Adjectival Prepositional Phrases.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk reduplikasi nomina dan verba bahasa Using. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa kata ulang nomina dan verba dalam bahasa Using yang diperoleh dari penutur asli bahasa Using. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara. Kemudian data temuan dianalisis melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap reduksi data, tahap penyajian data, dan tahap penyusunan kesimpulan. Validasi data dilakukan dengan menggunakan validasi metode dan validasi sumber. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan empat bentuk reduplikasi nomina, meliputi reduplikasi penuh, reduplikasi sebagian, reduplikasi berimbuhan, dan reduplikasi berubah fonem. Selain itu, ditemukan tiga bentuk reduplikasi verba, meliputi reduplikasi penuh, reduplikasi berimbuhan, dan reduplikasi berubah fonem. Reduplikasi pada kelas kata nomina dan verba bahasa Using ini terbagi ke dalam reduplikasi derivasional dan reduplikasi infleksional. Setiap bentuk reduplikasi memiliki fungsi gramatikal dan fungsi semantik yang bermacam-macam berdasarkan proses pembentukannya.

Abstract

Organizing ideas and opinions into sentences and paragraphs through editorials within news articles must be paid careful attention. To achieve that, each and every paragraph needs to be cohesive and meaningfully linked to each other. Hence, this study attempts to analyze and investigate the English cohesive devices and their realization within three The Jakarta Post news editorials entitled Respecting Boundaries, Freedom of Religion at Risk, and Honesty the Best Policy in constructing cohesive sentences so as to convey argumentative and persuasive opinions to readers. Krippendorff’s (2018) content analysis was applied as an analytical method to elucidate the cohesive devices and describe their discursive realization within the news editorials. Moreover, Halliday & Hasan’s (1976) framework of cohesion was also applied as an analytical tool to elucidate the cohesive devices in the selected editorials. Based on the findings, it was figured out that there are only three types of cohesive devices found from the three news editorials; reference (71%), conjunction (15%), and lexical cohesion (14%). The discursive realization of the cohesive devices has revealed that the writers of the three selected news editorials adequately utilized almost all of the cohesive devices in order to constitute cohesive textures that lead to persuasive and comprehensive opinions and points of view.

Abstract

AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi aspek sosiopragmatik pengungkap humor dalam pagelaran wayang Sasak lakon “Diwi Payunjali”. Data yang dikumpulkan berbentuk satuan lingual yang mengandung humor yang diperoleh melalui video pagelaran wayang Sasak tersebut. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode simak teknik sadap dan dianalisis dengan teknik konstituen langsung dan referensial. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa lima aspek sosiopragmatik digunakan sebagai pengungkap humor dalam pagelaran wayang Sasak lakon “Diwi Payunjali”. Kelima aspek tersebut adalah permainan bahasa, penggunaan makian, penggunaan campur kode, penggunaan asosiasi pornografi, dan pelanggaran dua maksim percakapan dalam prinsip kerja sama, yakni maksim kualitas dan maksim pelaksanaan. Persentase aspek sosiopragmatik terbesar dalam pengungkapan humor adalah penggunaan prinsip kerja sama, yakni sebesar 35%. Aspek lainnya secara berturut-turut adalah 24% penggunaan makian, 21% penggunaan asosiasi pornografi, 13% penggunaan permainan bahasa, dan 8% penggunaan campur kode. Kata Kunci: aspek sosiopragmatik, humor, wayang sasak AbstractThis study aims to identify the sociopragmatic aspects which are used to express humor in the Sasak puppet entitled “Diwi Payunjali”. The data used in this study are language units containing humor which are obtained from Sasak puppet show video. The data are collected using the observation method and tapping techniques. Data analysis was carried out using immediate constituent and referential techniques. The result of this study shows that five sociopragmatic aspects are used to express humor in the Sasak puppet entitled "Diwi Payunjali". The five aspects are the use of word plays, the use of curse words, the use of code mixings, the use of pornographic references, and the violations of two conversational maxims based on cooperative principles namely the maxim of quality and the maxim of manner. The violations of the cooperative principles are the most dominant sociopragmatic aspect used to express humor which occurs as much as 35%. Other aspects in a row are 24% use of swearing, 21% use of pornography associations, 13% use of language games, and 8% use of code-mixing.Keywords: sociopragmatic aspects, humor, Sasak puppet

Abstract

This study discusses Imperfect, a novel written by Meira Anastasia which tells about how the female figure is one of God's creatures who has privileges and also has a very noble position. The charm of female beauty is a gift that can make men fascinated. However, on the other hand, women are often referred to as a disaster, and are considered weak by some people. The image of women is an illustration that discoveries are often made by finding gender, but it is not uncommon for self-confidence to emerge. Therefore, it becomes an interesting thing to discuss by raising stories about the image of women. The purpose of this study was to determine the image of women in Imperfect, a novel written by Meira Anastasia and its implications in Indonesian language learning. This study used descriptive qualitative method. There are five studies on the image of women in Meira Anastasia's novel called Imperfect, namely Citra Pigura with 30 findings equal to 60%, Citra Pilar with 9 findings equal to 18%, Citra Peraduan with 4 findings equal to 9%, Citra Pinggan 1 finding equal to 2% and Citra Pergaulan 6 findings equal 12%. The dominant female image in Meira Anastasia's novel, Imperfect is the Citra Pigura and Citra Pilar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai sosial dalam novel Rahasia Hujan karya Adham T.fushama dan pemanfaatannya sebagai video pembelajaran di SMA kelas XI. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis nilai-nilai sosial pada novel Rahasia Hujan terdapat 30 nilai sosial. Tolong menolong sebanyak 9, tanggung jawab 3, empati 6, peduli 4, cinta kasih 4, dan kerja sama sebanyak 4. Hasil analisis nilai sosial dalam novel Rahasia Hujan karya Adham T. Fushama dimanfaatkan sebagai video pembelajaran untuk kelas XI. Nilai-nilai sosial yang ada pada novel Rahasia Hujan dapat diimplikasikan menjadi bahan pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra yang ada di SMA. Yakni dapat menumbuhkan kepekaan siswa terhadap nilai-nilai sosial yang menjadi tauladan untuk digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari siswa

Abstract

Unsur-unsur kebudayaan terdiri dari bahasa, sistem pengetahuan, organisasi sosial, sistem peralatan hidup/teknologi, sistem mata pencarian, sistem religi, dan kesenian. Berdasarkan unsur-unsur kebudayaan yang ada maka penelitian ini penulis batasi kajiannya pada tiga unsur yaitu, sistem religi, sistem mata pencarian, dan sistem peralatan hidup/teknologi. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis, menginterpretasikan, mendeskripsikan dan menyimpulkan etnoekologi yang berkaitan dengan sistem religi, sistem mata pencarian, dan sistem peralatan hidup/teknologi dalam Dongeng Masyarakat Desa Pebenaan Kecamatan Keritang Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya unsur-unsur kebudayaan yang berkaitan dengan etnoekologi berupa sistem religi, sistem mata pencaharian, dan sistem peralatan hidup/teknologi dalam Dongeng Masyarakat Desa Pebenaan Kecamatan Keritang Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir yaitu sistem religi secara keseluruhan terdapat 15 data (sampel 3 data), sistem mata pencaharian 23 data (sampel 8 data), dan sistem peralatan hidup/teknologi terdapat 26 data (sampel 8 data). Etnoekologi yang lebih dominan dalam dongeng ini adalah etnoekologi dalam sistem peralatan hidup/teknologi karena pada umumnya dongeng-dongeng tersebut menceritakan kehidupan keseharian tokoh yang banyak menggunakan alat-alat untuk membantu mereka dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidup.

Abstract

Folktale is an enticing media to analyze, especially from linguistic element (speech acts).  This study focuses on scrutinizing types of illocutionary acts and the techniques of performing illocutionary acts. It employs qualitative design of research. Observation and documentary review are applied to obtain the data. Field-notes are also used during data collection. In analyzing the data, interactive model of data analysis is applied, including data reduction, data display, and data verification/claim. The results of the study show 76 data classified on the types of illocutionary acts have been found based on the theory of Searle (1979), including: assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. It is also found in the folktale that the techniques applied to perform illocutionary act include literal direct technique, literal indirect technique, non-literal direct technique, and non-literal indirect technique.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis penggunaan tindak tutur direktif dalam naskah Pada Suatu Hari karya Arifin C. Noer. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu jenis tindak tutur direktif yang mendominasi naskah drama Pada Suatu Hari karya Arifin C. Noer adalah tindak pertanyaan (questions) dengan 55 temuan dari total 72 temuan atau 63% dari total 100%, tindak perintah (requirements) mencapai 9 temuan dari total 72 temuan atau 13% dari total 100%, dan tindak nasihat (advisories) mencapai 5 temuan dari total 72 temuan atau 7% dari total 100%. Dari hasil tersebut dapat diketahui bahwa penggunaan tindak tutur direktif pada film tersebut sangat berperan penting dalam sebuah interaksi yang dilakukan oleh penutur dengan mitra tuturnya, khususnya pada percakapan sebuah drama. Implikasi terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dalam hasil penelitian dapat digunakan untuk membantu pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara, sehingga tuturan direktif dapat diterapkan untuk mempermudah interaksi belajar mengajar.
